Jim oversees the design, construction, and upkeep of animal enclosures and infrastructure at TPCI. With over 20 years of experience in animal husbandry, medical care, and facility operations, he plays a critical role in ensuring that every habitat is safe, secure, and built to support species-specific welfare and enrichment.

He specializes in hand-rearing neonates and has extensive experience administering injections, IV and subcutaneous fluids, performing tube feedings, and carrying out detailed and often tedious medical procedures all performed under veterinary direction or established veterinary protocols. His calm precision and deep understanding of animal behavior make him a trusted caregiver during critical care situations.

Jim has also prepares and manages species-specific diets using professional husbandry experience and veterinary or nutritional guidance and serves as the in-house chef for our insectivores—including aardvarks, aardwolves, bat-eared foxes, tamanduas, and others—ensuring tailored nutrition based on species-specific needs.

Combining practical strength with a deep passion for animals, Jim’s contributions to husbandry, medical care, and enrichment are foundational to TPCI’s daily operations and long-term mission. His dedication helps uphold the high standards of care and innovation the foundation is known for.
